Summary

The Quran is not just a book for Muslims — it is a message for all of humanity. This khutbah explores the universal nature of the Quran and our duty to convey its message with wisdom.

Part One — First Khutbah

Opening — Khutbat al-Hajah

Man yahdihillahu fala mudilla lah, wa man yudlil fala hadiya lah.

Amma ba'd. Fa inna khairal hadeethi kitabullah, wa khayral hadyi hadyu Muhammadin sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam, wa sharral umuri muhdathatuha, wa kulla muhdathatin bid'ah, wa kulla bid'atin dalalah, wa kulla dalalatin fin-nar.

Dear brothers and sisters in Islam,

The Quran — A Message for All Humanity

Today we reflect on a truth that many of us take for granted: the Quran was not sent only for the Arabs, nor only for the Muslims. It was sent as guidance for all of mankind.

Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala, declares:

"Shahru Ramadanal-ladhee unzila feehil Qur'anu hudal-linnaasi wa bayyinatim-minal huda wal-furqan." (Al-Baqarah, 2:185)
"The month of Ramadan in which the Quran was revealed, a guidance for mankind and clear evidence of guidance and the criterion."

Notice — Allah did not say "hudal-lil-muslimeen" (guidance for Muslims). He said "hudal-linnas" — guidance for all people.

And in another ayah:

"Tabarakal-ladhee nazzalal-furqana 'ala 'abdihi li yakuna lil-'alameena nadheera." (Al-Furqan, 25:1)
"Blessed is He who sent down the Criterion upon His servant that he may be a warner to all the worlds."

What Does the Quran Offer Humanity?

The Quran offers humanity three things that no other source can provide:

1. A correct understanding of God. In a world confused about the nature of God — polytheism, atheism, agnosticism — the Quran presents the purest concept of monotheism. One God, without partner, without equal, without offspring.

"Qul Huwal-lahu Ahad. Allahus-Samad. Lam yalid wa lam yulad. Wa lam yakul-lahu kufuwan ahad." (Al-Ikhlas, 112:1-4)

2. A moral compass. The Quran defines justice, compassion, family, community, and the rights of the weak. It speaks to the rich about the poor, to the powerful about the oppressed, to men about women, to parents about children.

3. A purpose for life. The Quran answers the fundamental questions: Why are we here? What happens after death? What is expected of us?

"Wa ma khalaqtul-jinna wal-insa illa li ya'budun." (Adh-Dhariyat, 51:56)
"And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me."

Our Responsibility as Carriers of this Message

Brothers and sisters, if we truly believe the Quran is guidance for all humanity, then we cannot keep it to ourselves. The Prophet, sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam, said:

"Ballighu 'anni wa law ayah." (Sahih al-Bukhari, 3461)
"Convey from me, even if it is just one ayah."

We are not asked to be scholars to share Islam. We are asked to live it, to embody it, and to share whatever we know — even if it is a single verse.

But how do we share it? With wisdom and beautiful preaching:

"Ud'u ila sabeeli rabbika bil-hikmati wal-maw'idhatil-hasanah." (An-Nahl, 16:125)
"Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction."

Not with harshness, not with judgement, not with superiority — but with wisdom, kindness, and the best of character. Our character is our dawah. How we treat our neighbours, our colleagues, our non-Muslim friends — this is how the message of the Quran reaches them.
Aqulu qauli hada, wa astaghfirullaha li wa lakum wa li sa'iril muslimeen, fas taghfiruh, innahu huwal Ghafurur Rahim.

Part Two — Second Khutbah

Bismillah, wal hamdulillah, was-salatu was-salamu 'ala Rasulillah, sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam.

Brothers and sisters,

Your Takeaway — Two Actions This Week

First: Read the Quran with understanding this week — not just recitation, but reflection. Pick a surah you have not studied before and read a reliable tafsir of it. Understand what Allah is saying to you and to all of humanity.

Second: Share one thing from the Quran with a non-Muslim this week. It could be a concept of justice, a verse about mercy, or simply the way you conduct yourself at work. Let the Quran speak through your actions.

"Inna hadhal-Qur'ana yahdee lillatee hiya aqwam." (Al-Isra, 17:9)
"Indeed, this Quran guides to that which is most upright."

Closing Du'a

Allahumma a'izzal islama wal muslimeen.

Allahumma irham al-muslimeena fee kulli makaan.

Allahumma a'inna 'ala dhikrika wa shukrika wa husni 'ibadatik.

Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanatan wa fil-akhirati hasanatan wa qina 'adhaban-nar.

Rabbana la tuzigh quloobana ba'da idh hadaytana wa hab lana min ladunka rahmah, innaka antal Wahhab.

Aqimis-salah.
